How long does one wait till eating after having a abscess tooth removed?
Answer:
Once the bleeding has stopped you can eat. You will need to eat soft foods, on the opposite side of the extraction. If you are still numb wait until it has worn off. If you eat while you are still numb you can bite your cheek, tongue etc.
do not drink through a straw, the sucking can dislodge the blood clot and cause a dry socket (infection in the bone) also to not rinse vigorously near the extraction site
Your dentist should have given you a list of dos and donts after you had the tooth removed. If not, just wait a few hors, the clot will have formed and you should be fine. Chew on the other side of your mouth. There may be heightened sensitivity to hot a cold for a little while.
30 MINUTES OR AT LEAST 1 HOUR
