How long does it take to heal from tooth extraction?

Answer:
As far as pain, you should start noticing a reduction of pain in 4-5 days after the extraction itself. Keep taking any prescribed antibiotics and pain medication your dentist may have ordered for you. As far as how long it takes for the site to heal depends on several different factors (ex: how complicated the extraction was etc.) but most patients take several weeks to several months for the gums to completely heal and for the site to close. You may always feel a small indentation on the area where the tooth was extracted, but without problems (dry socket) you should start beginning the healing process very soon. As always if you have any questions or prolonged pain, contact your regular dentist as soon as possible.
When i had my teeth pulled it took about a week to totally heal but i felt better after 2 days.
I hope this helps.
a couple of days ...not long
You usually will feel some discomfort (not much but some) for a couple of days.. what is important is to remember that there will be a blood clot that will form in the gum where the tooth is extracted from.. it is very important that the clot remain in place.. it is what helps the gum heal by sealing off the openning.. if you were to dislodge the clot by mouth wash or some other means.. then you could cause yourself a lot of pain.. it is called a dry socket or a non bleeding socket.. buddy that hurts bad.. I am sure your dentist will explain all that to you.. just take it easy for a few days and you will be fine.. good luck. Oh and if you have some discomfort.. it is okay to eat some ice cream.. it is very relieving.. good luck
