How do you use a floss threader?

I do not even understand why you need one cant you just put the floss behind the wire I am just really confused on this my Orthdontist did not help me with it.And do you use that little brush he gave you when you are like out of hoem or do you use it after regular brushing.
Answer:
They are more trouble than they're worth. Just get a long piece of floss, wind the ends around your fingers, and try to keep your fingers as day as possible so it won't slip. Flossing is well worth the trouble, and you'll get better at it in no time. That little brush is good for the places you can't reach with your floss.
Usually it is very difficut to thread the floss between the brackets/under the wire to floss b/c the floss is so flimsy.
1. Thread floss through the floss threader ring. It is easier if you get a long piece of floss put it through the floss threader ring and pull the floss through till the ring is in the middle of the floss.
2. Take floss threader end w/ the single string and thread under wire. Pull it through under the wire hold on to the floss then pull the floss down between teeth and work around. Then do next one.Did they give you proxabrushes or interdental brushes?
They look like pipe cleaners, you can get them also by the floss at the store. It is much easier you just slide the little pipe cleaner brush under you wire and can clean under the wire.
I have my patients do this daily and try and floss 1 time a week b/c it is just so time consuming w/ braces.
PS if you have the travel proxabrushes you can carry them in your pocket so after you eat you can get the food out.
oh crap let me think here its been awhile um the brush you use everytime you brush to help prevent staining and tooth decay your regular brush cant get into the spaces like the little one
put the floss in the threader and the threader in between your teeth hold on to one end of the floss then pull out the threader once you get the hang of it their much easier than fighting the wires
You use a threader just like you would a needle and thread. Put your floss through the eye of the threader.
Now thread the floss under your wire and floss.
Do this between each bracket. It may take a while to get the hang of it, just keep trying.
It sounds like the little brush he gave you is a proxy brush. This small brush is used to also clean under your wires. Just put the small brush under your wire and clean the tooth surface. Hope this helps.
