Extractions are based on difficulty. If you see an Oral Surgeon they will most likely charge you a consult and xray fee. In our area it is approx $75 for a consult and $75 for a panoramic xray. If your dentist takes a small periapical xray they can range from $15- $30. The extraction itself usually will cost anywhere from $ 125.00-300.00 depending on difficulty and if you prefer to have nitrous oxide or to be put to sleep. I have not heard of any dentist charging only $35.00, those days are long gone.

Less molds, less money.I would think the Invisalign would irritate your gums more. They sit right underneath the gumline, where braces are centered on the tooth. I had braces when I was younger...no gum irritation.

I have sensitive teeth but having my teeth cleaned more frequently (once every 4 months) than normal used to help. Problems started last fall when a different dental hygienist cleaned my teeth. She was really rough and I was in pain and my gums were puffy for weeks. They weren't before the cleaning. The next time, a new dh cleaned them. She said that some of my bone was exposed and blamed me for not brushing well. I think the previous dh caused the problem. I was in so much pain that I switched from Sensodyne toothpaste, which I had used for decades, to Arm %26 Hammer for sensitive teeth and using mouthwash hurt too much. I wanted to postpone the last cleaning but the dentist wouldn't listen to me. This time I am in even more pain and have not been able to sleep much since the cleaning. I think it's time to find a new dentist. Are any dentist aware of the quality of work that their dental hygienists do?

I wonder how deep a cleaning this dental hygenist gave you. If you had a deep root scaling, that can leave you sore for several days. A regular cleaning might make you a bit sore and swollen if you had a lot to clean off your teeth and above your gumline. Just do your best to floss everyday, brush twice a day and keep your teeth as clean as possible until the next cleaning. Tell your hygenist how much it hurts, they have things to help with that. If it happens again, ask for a new hygenist.If they are "blaming you" and insisting on cleanings when you don't feel like it, I would change my dentist office altogether. This is YOUR mouth and YOUR health. I hate when they get pushy like that. I've been in the same situation and I switched offices.
If you get some CoQ10 capsules and break them open then squirt the oil on your gums it will take down the swelling in a day or two. And you might consider going to your doctor for an antibiotic script. You may have gotten some bacteria into your bloodstream from a deep cleaning. I would switch dentists right away.
1st. you don't need a new dentist. He or she cannot change what you have been diagnosed with and you know what you have. Perio Disease. 2nd ...If you are getting cleanings every 4 months YOU KNOW you have periodontal disease. I guess the questions you have to ask your self are the following....

d) the hygenist CAN give you injections to numb your gums but then when she is scaling or using the water spray, you will have discomfort afterward. after the anesthetic wares off.
e) gums that are that inflamed can get infections so again, brush, floss, rinse with mouth wash and ONLY YOU CAN TURN THIS AROUND.!!!
e)I am afraid you have to confront your own demons by pointing the finger at yourself.
f) I really do feel for you but your gums have been in sad shape b4 you started.
g) like excersise, if you go gun hoe at first you will hurt yourself and or you will quit. but if you diet, eat right and do things in moderation you will certainly turn around and lose the weight.
h) tell your Dental Hygenist that you are very sensitive and to PLEASE HAVE SOME EMPATHY FOR YOU ..They can be gentle....

I have a really wobbly front tooth (next to "two front teeth") and was wonderng if I'm gonna need a bank loan to sort it when it falls out.

1 year intership ( you go thru rotations to learn about all areasof medicine.
A minimum of 4 years as a resident in your chosen field
Aminimum of a 1-2 year fellowship in your specialty.All Dr's regardless of specialty have to be Internists first because even though they may be a heart Dr. they have to have a knowledge of all sorts of internal medicie things like diabetes, kidney disease, resp. diseases. This adds up to about 13 -14 years. Then you have to take Boards in your specialty, no one wants to see a Dr. that is not board certified. That means they have accomplished top honors in their field!I do have a friend who was a board certified ER Doc and he was only 28. He went to college in 3 years, He got called into the Deans office in med school (he thought he was going to get kicked out) and they fast tracked him thru med school (3 years) and then did his 4 year internship and residency in ER.
After that and working for a couple of years and having a wife and children, he go bored so he (while still working in the ER) went back to school and became a lawyer. Last I heard he was getting his PHD in Finance.

does it has to be 2 years (braces)? what about retainer?

It really depends on how bad you teeth are. I have had mine on for over 3 years (should be getting them off soon!), but my friend had hers for only 2 years. If your getting them don't worry its not as bad as everyone says! The only reason I have had mine on this long is because I had to have teeth pulled! The retainer is a life long thing, if you don't wair it your teeth could go back to being crooked again. Not fun!! Hope this helps :)

It has to be whatever your orthadontist tells you. It might change depending on how well or how bad your teeth are doing.
The orthodontist will give you a time frame with your treatment . I was told i will need braces 4 2 years and the retaines long term. I would like it long term so i dont get the overcrowded teeth back . I hope u feel the same way.
As far as I know, every person needs to have braces for a different amount of years, depending on how bad their bite is.
As for the retainer, I once read that you should wear it until you are 35, because after that your teeth don't shift anymore (you really don't grow anymore after that--that's why it's important to take calcium until you are 35).
My orthodontist also tweaks the retainer (I wear a regular retainer) whenever I go to him (like once every year or two) to form the teeth into the best bite possible; but not every orthodontist does this.
You can ask your orthodontist how many years he thinks you should wear it.

I'm an Orthodontic Assistant, and where I work we tell people to wear them full time for the first 3 months. That gives your roots time to stabilize. Then we move our patients to night time only wear. After awhile, some people get to where they're only wearing their retainers every other night. You can really be the judge once you get down to wearing it less. If it feels tight, that means you need to be wearing it more. Your teeth will always want to move some. I've had my braces off for 10 years now and I still pop my retainer in every now and then just to make sure my teeth aren't moving like crazy!! If it feels a little tight I'll wear it for a few nights.
I think it's only about a year.

I believe you will probably wear them 24/7 for about 6months - a year. But taking them out when you eat. After a year the orthodontist told me to wear them when I only go to bed. The Dr may tell you when you can stop wearing the retainers. I continue to wear mine at night, don't want my teeth to start moving again.
I had to wear it constantly for about a year. Then switched to nightly. It's been about 7 years and I still wear it at night. It might be a lifetime thing to do to keep them straight. Good luck!

A dentist can tell if you have been doing a good job keeping your mouth healthy by seeing how much gunk (plaque and tartar) is stuck on your teeth, how much your gums bleed, and how many cavities you have.The only person you deceive when you lie about how many times you brush per day is... You. :-D

A minimum of twice a day...your dentist only asks you to make you think about it. The condition of your mouth and gums tells him/her all she needs to know. Flossing can not be faked either so why lie? Do yourself a favor take care of your teeth...the dentist will prosper from your negligence I know..I do

I use to only brush my teeth 2 times a day (In the morning and before going to bed). I've got braces now so i brush them more often as it gets really annoying when stuff gets stuck in it. Probably about 4 times a day now after every meal (breakfast, lunch and dinner) and before going to bed.
everyday morning and night (ie before going to the bed) am not lie its trupa because my tooths look beautiful
