How many years does it take to become a sugeon?

to work at a hospital, to become a heart or brain surgeon
Answer:
I think it's somewhere around 7-8 years.
i think like 8 yrs?? my mom's a nurse she gives me all this info. lol
at least 7 years of school then internships
4 years of college
4 years of doctor (medical) college
3 or 4 years of internship= 11 or 12 years, is my best guess. It might be a little less.Cheers
COLLEGE REGULAR BASICS
2years of undergrad coll/univ.
2----other years of another undergrad. univ./college
--------------------------
IN DEPT MEDICAL= 4YEARS
2years at a college med/ or univ. med
2years at another college med/ or univ med.INTERNSHIP MASTERS
4years at an internship for masters degree in medical optics or surgeon general areas.2YEARS OPTIONAL OF FURTHER MASTERS
6 years college and med school, another 2 years internship, maybe rounded off about 10 years. A more challenging hurdle is how much it costs to obtain all that education, including all the medical equipment and books you have to buy (which ain't cheap, nossir).
ALOT of time.i researched in surgeons, even though im thirteen im shaping my future,You need to go to about a lot of different schools.
8 years and you need high score in your exams to get into uni to study medicine.
it depends on what specialty you would want to beLets see, here in the Philippines:
Basic Medical Sciences (Doctor Degree) = 4 years
Post Graduate Internship = 1 year
Internal Medicine = 2-3 years
Subspecialty (Surgery) = 3-5 (especially neurosurgeon w/c is 5 years)that will be 10-13 years
Ok, I read the other answers and none seemed to really answer your question. In the US you have
4 years college
4 years Med school and then you become a Dr at graduation.
1 year intership ( you go thru rotations to learn about all areasof medicine.
A minimum of 4 years as a resident in your chosen field
Aminimum of a 1-2 year fellowship in your specialty. All Dr's regardless of specialty have to be Internists first because even though they may be a heart Dr. they have to have a knowledge of all sorts of internal medicie things like diabetes, kidney disease, resp. diseases. This adds up to about 13 -14 years. Then you have to take Boards in your specialty, no one wants to see a Dr. that is not board certified. That means they have accomplished top honors in their field!I do have a friend who was a board certified ER Doc and he was only 28. He went to college in 3 years, He got called into the Deans office in med school (he thought he was going to get kicked out) and they fast tracked him thru med school (3 years) and then did his 4 year internship and residency in ER.
After that and working for a couple of years and having a wife and children, he go bored so he (while still working in the ER) went back to school and became a lawyer. Last I heard he was getting his PHD in Finance.
