You need to go to college, take the pre-dental courses, take the DAT exam, apply, get into and finish dental school.All told, usually 8 years (4 years college, 4 years dental school).There are 7-year combined BA/DDS programs around the country that lets you shave a year off though.Hope this helps.

Same amount of time it takes to become a dentist everywhere else. Undergraduate work (at least 3 years, unless you go to a combined BA/DDS program which is 6 years), then 4 years of dental school.
